20 years passed, but I remember

Two more compositions from the concert "Cinemusic: Nino Rota and Isaac Schwarts": fragments from Rota's score for the film "Rocco and his brothers" (dir. Luchino Visconti) and Waltz by Isaac Schwarts for the film "The Captivating Star of Happiness" (dir. Vladimir Motyl).

About Rota's score I can say that discovered something recently. Eduard Artemyev, another outstanding Russian composer, most likely borrowed from "Rocco" some ideas in instrumentation and melody for the his own score for Nikita Mikhalkov's film "Barber of Siberia". Who cares - will find it out.

And there's a memory about Schwarts's Waltz. When I was studying in music school, our orchestra conductor gave me the score of this waltz just to have a look. I spent the whole day playing it on a piano in amazement how such a simple musical notation can touch so deeply my heart. In addition, this music contrasted with the repertoire that I played on accordion those days. For the better, of course.

I took a break for a few minutes then and went out of the room (to drink some tee or something), and when returned, the score wasn't on the piano. It was stolen - the most bitter loss of music score in my life. 20 years have passed probably, but I remember.

P.S. A couple of other pieces published the day before yesterday.

Nino Rota - Rocco e i suoi fratelli

Isaac Schwarts - The Captivating Star of Happiness

Nice blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere?
A theme like yours with a few simple tweeks would really make my blog shine.
Please let me know where you got your design. Cheers

Black&white musicians
My teacher prof. Nikolay Kravtsov told me that the accordionist's appearance should only have white teeth and white accordion keys, the rest must be black. Though I ddo not play accordion for a white, I got the lesson. :)

A few photos from the St. Petersburg premiere of "Misa Tango" and other works by Luis Bacalov.
I's like also to mention that I know how to wait. Dreamed to play this masterpiece for like 10 years, but had not expected it to happen in my home city, in my home Philharmonic, not to say that conducted by the author himself.
